Map Wisdom of Old Frustration v3.0, M∞, Net, 3-7 players (5-25-97)
Standard Introduction
Thank you for choosing my map to download from the many fine ones available. My never-ending plan is to not only not disappoint you, but to titillate that happy trigger finger of yours. All my maps have been tested by the fine folks at work and have been subsequently tweaked to ultimate playing ripeness by me. This laborious & tedious process is carried out so that you, fine marine, can indulge in the unique & pleasurable of rubbing-out your buddies.
Basic Map Characteristics
Wisdom of Old Frustration v3.0 is a M∞ net map made with lava texture and is 102K in size. It can support 2-8 players but 3-7 are recommended. All modes of game play are possible. There is one alien and one 2X recharger. The switches near the recharger raise a low door to trap any marine recharging. The ball is on the hill and the hill surrounds the recharger and is slightly elevated. The basic layout consists of 3 levels with each running perpendicular to the other. Tunnels allow for rapid passage underneath levels to steps and platforms. The lowest level holds lava. At the southern end of the map, a semihidden switch opens the 1/2 door to the 3X recharge canister, invincibility ball and a missile launcher. The alien weapon sits high in a cage that must be "jumped" by. You'll see.
Possible Strategies/Play Suggestion
Make sure you have practiced shooting high and low because you’ll have plenty of opportunity. Kill the Man with the Ball and Tag are favorites among our group. There are two good sniper perches that view the hill & recharger from above. Give'em a try.
Thank You's
I want to thank Bungie and the developers of Forge, Anvil, Alchemist and Phorte, also, to other map makers who’ve given me advice and insight. I want to say thanks as well to the hard-working folks at the hyperarchives and other areas who give all maps exposure. They’re styl’n. I am grateful to Red Sonya, Dante, Marsha Brady, Light’em Up and especially Relic who consistently test and play my maps and provide valuable feedback (e.g.“Smear!” and “Where are all the weapons?”). Finally, thanks to Due Bell for her graciousness in spite of my marathon affliction (yes running them too).
Legal
You may distribute this map freely if you include the corresponding Read Me file and make no altercations to the map files or files themselves. Please, in the event (I hope some day) that you wish to include this or any of my maps in a collection or CD, etc., please secure my permission first. Carnage maneuvers may resume. Thanks.
The Battle with Narcissism
In spite of the thought, time and energy put into this map, it may plain suck. Who knows better than anyone? You do. Please tell me. I need all the objective input you can muster. Tell me anything and everything you think (especially objective negative stuff) so that I can make a better map for you. I know it’s a huge pain to e-mail when you’d rather play Marathon, but all input is valuable. Thanks in advance for your help.
